D'Brickashaw Ferguson could be playing in the Superdome next season.
With the many uncertainties surrounding April's draft, Ferguson may find himself playing for New Orleans. It has been a whacky
off-season so far for the Saints, who came out of nowhere to snatch up Drew Brees, and with that move single-handedly shook
up the draft outlook. At one point the consensus top 3 choices were, Reggie Bush, his counterpart Matt Leinart, and Rose Bowl
MVP Vince Young. Now that Free Agency has settled down, the draft is starting to become a little more clear.
With the recent trade of longtime LT Wayne Gandy, the Saints may be pointing towards selecting the mammoth tackle from Virginia,
D'Brickashaw Ferguson, to replace him. Despite having one of the worst defenses in the NFL not only this past season but for
nearly a decade, the Saints appear ready to select their next Franchise Tackle. I cannot argue with the move, they have
invested a lot of money in Drew Brees and protecting his blindside is a must. It looks as the scnerario has played out
perfectly for Ferguson , and now "D'Brick," as he is known, maybe the corner stone of this team for years
to come.
The Houston Texans are now on the clock. There has recently been speculation
regarding the 1st pick in this years draft. GM Charlie Casserly has openly said that he is uncertain on what they will do
with the pick. NFLDraft06.com breaks down what the Texans' should do. Although they
have many holes to fill both on offense and defense the Texans should and will stay put to select Reggie Bush. Greg
Kubiak's offense doesn't necessarily involve big athletic blockers, but rather quick mobile ones. With that being said, the
Texans' are better off adding a difference maker, one who can change the game in an instant, Reggie Bush fits that bill.
Reggie Bush has the speed, agility, and quickness to become one of the NFL's greats. Bush could see his numbers soar in 2006
as he is playing in an offense that has produced top notch runners, like Clinton Portis, Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary, and
Terrell Davis. Bush shouldn't have any trouble joining this group because his style of play fits Kubiak's offense so well
that it is scary to think of the numbers he might put up. The Texans' will certainly receive many
offers for the right to draft Bush, but they will hold on to it and doing so will make the Texans' that much better.
